Grizzlies Fall 4-3 In Vegas Shootout

Las Vegas, Nevada - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Utah Grizzlies (5-2-1-1) 4-3 in a shootout Saturday night in Las Vegas. The Grizzlies battled back to tie in the third period and collected three of four standings points in the weekend series.

Utah improves to 3-1-0-1 through the first five games of a season-long eight-game road trip.

"We like taking three of four points on a weekend series," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "We've put together a strong road trip thus far and will look to finish strong in Bakersfield next week."

Tim Crowder gave Utah a 1-0 lead 14:51 into the first period as Michael Gergen picked up a turnover behind the Las Vegas net and fed his linemate. Utah outshot Las Vegas 18-9 in the first period.

The Wranglers took a 2-1 lead with two goals 45-seconds apart at 12:52 and 13:37 of the second period. Utah battled back to tie heading into the second intermission as Paul Crowder raced down the ice and fed brother Tim for his second goal of the night with 19.7 seconds left in the middle frame.

Utah battled back from a 3-2 third period deficit as Riley Armstrong, in his Utah debut, fed Ric Jackman from behind the net for a power-play tally 9:31 into the third period. Las Vegas outscored Utah 3-1 in the shootout.

Andrew Engelage turned in his fifth-straight solid performance in goal stopping 33 of 36 shots through overtime. His record is 3-1-0-1 on the road trip and the season.

The Grizzlies now head to Bakersfield to complete their season-long eight-game road trip. Action from California starts at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Utah returns home Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20 to host the Alaska Aces at Maverik Center. Friday is Maverik night. All tickets are $5 for fans presenting a receipt from Maverik at the arena box office. Fans who present military identification Saturday will receive a $5 game ticket as well.
