
Victoria falls 5-2 against Idaho on "Canadian Armed Forces Night"

Victoria, BC - In a Saturday night match-up at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, the Victoria Salmon Kings took on the Idaho Steelheads in the rubber match of a three-game set. The Salmon Kings started David Shantz, while the Steelheads gave Tyler Beskorowany the call in net.
Idaho opened the scoring at 8:20 of the first period on the power play. Justin Taylor passed the puck out from behind the net to John Swanson in the slot whose quick shot beat Shantz. The tally was Swanson's third of the season. At 10:34 Idaho's Adam Huxley notched his first marker of the season on the power play after he found a loose puck in front of the goal and fired it past Shantz. Idaho took their 2-0 lead into the second period.
Ryan Turek cut Idaho's lead in half on the power play at 3:31 after taking a slap shot from the point that beat Beskorowany. The goal was Turek's second of the season. Kael Mouillierat increased Idaho's lead to three after scoring back to back goals at 7:20 and 7:49, with the second coming on the man advantage. Mouillierat tallied his third of the period at 19:01 after breaking down the right side and firing it through the legs of Shantz. Idaho led 5-1 after two periods.
Victoria's Kiel McLeod scored his third of the season, and the lone marker of the final period, at 2:22 after sliding in a loose rebound from the slot off a Mike Wilson attempt. Steelheads 5 Salmon Kings 2.
Victoria went 1/6=16.7% on the power play, while Idaho was 3/10=30.0%. The Salmon Kings and Steelheads were even in shots at 36-36.
The Salmon Kings now travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to open up a seven game road trip against the Wranglers in a three-games in three nights series, with contests next Thursday November 11, Friday November 12 and Saturday November 13.
