March 21, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies played in their fourth straight overtime game and their second straight versus the Hershey Bears but the outcome was different than on Wednesday night when the teams tied as tonight Eric Bertrand recorded his third point of the night (1-2-3) in the overtime scoring the game winning goal.
Utah started the scoring taking a 1-0 lead on Justin Cox's first goal of the season in the first period of play. Hershey would score the next two goals as Bryan Muir and Steve Brule beat Utah goaltender Jason Bacashihua giving the Bears a 2-1 lead.
The Grizzlies would tie things up late in the third period as Dylan Gyori would find Greg Hawgood sneaking across the ice and he would bury the pass by Hershey goaltender Phil Sauve tying the game at two goals apiece and sending the contest to overtime.
With the Grizzlies assured of a point, Brule would set up Bertrand earning the extra point for the Bears who leave the state of Utah with three of a possible four points.
The Grizzlies outshot the Bears 44-32 in the game but Sauve was brilliant stopping 42 shots. With the OT loss, the Grizzlies have earned at least a point in their last seven games (4-0-1-2).
Three Stars: 1. Eric Bertrand (HER) 2. Phil Sauve (HER) 3. Steve Brule (HER)
Next Game: The Grizzlies will travel to San Antonio to take on the Rampage tomorrow night with face-off scheduled for 6:00 PM (MST).
