Royals Change Broadcast Schedule Due to War

(Reading, PA) – WFMZ TV, Channel 69 has postponed the telecast between the Reading Royals and Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies on Saturday, March 22. The telecast has been postponed due to the war with Iraq.

Royals Director of Broadcasting John Curtis said the postponement is understandable, "With what is happening in the world today, WFMZ has an obligation to keep Reading and the surrounding communities aware of what is going on with our troops in Iraq, and the entire Royals organization supports this decision.

The Reading Royals and Comcast have cancelled one of the two remaining Royals Roundtable television shows. The show tapes live on Mondays from 7-8 p.m. at Casa Grande Restaurant in Wyomissing. Due to Comcast's coverage of the war with Iraq, Monday's taping and the subsequent Tuesday airing on Comcast has been cancelled. The final taping of Royals Roundtable will be on Monday, March 31.

The Reading Royals finish off their sophomore season this Friday against division rivals Trenton and Atlantic City. Friday night the Royals will do battle with the Trenton Titans for the tenth and final time. The first 2,000 fans through the gate receive a free Royals team poster courtesy of the Reading Eagle. The Royals will be wearing special Jazz Fest Jerseys for the game, which will be auctioned off on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Plaza Hotel. Saturday, Reading tangles with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. Rieck's Printing will be giving away the fourth and final set of Royals hockey trading cards to the first 2,000 fans. Both games begin at the Sovereign Center at 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on ESPN Radio 1240AM beginning at 6:40 p.m. with the Buy-Rite Liquidator pre-game show.
