Grizzlies Drop 7-1 Contest to Bees

Fresno, Calif. - A night after they matched their season-high in hits, the Fresno Grizzlies tied their season-low for hits in a game in a 7-1 loss to the Salt Lake Bees on Saturday at Chukchansi Park.
The Grizzlies registered three hits in Saturday's loss, with Chris Dominguez's solo home run in the eighth inning providing the lone run for Fresno. Last night, the Grizzlies had 19 hits.
On the other side, the Bees recorded 13 hits to help power their seven runs. Tommy Field struck first for Salt Lake with a leadoff home run in the third inning to make it 1-0 Bees.
After a sacrifice fly by Luke Carlin in the fourth, Efren Navarro had an RBI double and Chris Nelson singled home Navarro in the fifth inning to give the Bees a 4-0 advantage.
The first four runs were all off Grizzlies starting pitcher Mitch Lively. The right-hander suffered his first loss as a starter after scattering eight hits over five innings.
Austin Fleet and Daryl Maday pitched in shutout efforts from the Fresno bullpen, with Fleet throwing two scoreless innings and surrendering one hit.
The Bees added three runs in the ninth off Fresno reliever Steve Edlefsen. Navarro drove in two of the runs with a single while Collin Cowgill plated the first run of the frame with a single of his own. Navarro had a game-high three RBI to go along with his two hits.
The homer by Dominguez was his 10th of the season and first since June 15th against Salt Lake.
Gary Brown went hitless in his four at-bats to end his season-high on-base streak at 18 games. The center fielder did tally two outfield assists to give him a PCL-leading 13 outfield assists this season.
Johnny Monell went 0-for-1 to also end his on-base streak, which stood at 16 games. Monell entered the game in the sixth inning to replace first baseman Brett Pill, who left the game with a hamstring strain.
The Grizzlies and Bees wrap up their four-game series on Sunday with a 2:05 pm game. Right-hander Chris Heston will start for Fresno and face Salt Lake's right-hander Barry Enright.
