Gateway Grizzlies News Release
On Thursday, the Gateway Grizzlies dealt their star first basemen Logan Parker in a blockbuster trade to the rival River City Rascals.
In the deal, the Grizzlies sent the Odessa, Texas native and a player to be named later for right-handed pitcher Erick Carillo and three players to be named later.
"This deal was done in the best consideration for Logan," said Grizzlies field manager Phil Warren. "He's one of the finest players we have had here, and from a respect standpoint, he deserves the best chance to win a ring before he calls it a career."
Prior to his departure, Parker led the Grizzlies in a majority of their offensive categories and ranked second in the Frontier League in both batting average (.355) and runs batted in (61).
The University of Cincinnati product was also one of five Gateway Grizzlies players selected to represent the West Division in the 2011 All-Star game held at Lake Erie in Avon, OH.
In Avon, Parker was the starting designated hitter for the West team and finished second in the All-Star week homerun derby behind Devin Sheppard from Windy City.
During his storied career with the Grizzlies, Parker hit a combined .326 while accumulating 25 homeruns, 193 hits, 50 doubles, and 138 runs batted in with the organization in 152 games.
