Florence, KY - The Florence Freedom snapped a nine game losing streak Friday night when they shut out The Washington Wild Things (30-38), presented by Washington Financial 3-0.
Washington's bats were no contest for the Florence pitching staff in this first game of a three game set against The Freedom.
Chris Sidick chalked up two hits on the night; in the eighth inning the centerfielder smacked what appeared to be a home run, which would have tied the game, but the ball was called foul and Sidick struck out.
The only other Washington hits cam from Scott Lawson and Jonathan Cisneros.
Casey Barnes (5-5) took the loss for Washington allowing three runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out three in seven innings.
Florence and Washington meet for game two of the series Saturday when first pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Air time on WJPA 95.3 FM and MSAsport.net is 5:55 p.m.. The Wild Things return to CONSOL Energy Park Friday, August 12th.
