Grizzlies Beat Idaho 4-3: Win Second-Straight in Boise

Boise, Idaho - The Utah Grizzlies defeated the Idaho Steelheads 4-3 Friday night at CenturyLink Arena.

Ryan Turek scored the game-winning goal 3:15 into the third period as he ripped home a shot from the point. The Grizzlies were shorthanded for four minutes in a 4:24 stretch in the game's final 7:49 but held on. Jimmy Spratt stopped 13 third period shots,

including a few quality scoring chances late as he played for the first time against Idaho, who traded him to Utah January 28.

Kory Falite got the scoring started just 40 seconds into the first period as he hammered home a rebound on a Dave Strathman shot. The goal was the earliest to start a game for Utah this year. After Idaho tied it on a power-play goal, Falite struck again as he hammered in another lose puck to give Utah a 2-1 lead at 15:29 of the opening frame. 22 first period shots by the Grizzlies was the most by Utah in a period this season.

Utah made it 3-1 3:09 into the second period as Turek threw in a shot from the point that was redirected home by Mitch Wahl (15). The Steelheads came back with two power-play goals in a 1:08 stretch to make it 3-3 at the second intermission.

Spratt stopped 31 of 34 overall for Utah in the game. Falite led Utah with two goals and one assist.

The Grizzlies and Idaho meet again at 7:10 p.m. in Boise on Saturday as they continue their season-long ten-game road trip.

Utah returns home March 5th, 7th, 9th and 10th to open four-games in six nights.
