Jackals Announce Transactions

The Elmira Jackals announced multiple transactions prior to their game on Friday night at 7:35 p.m. against the Reading Royals at First Arena.

Goaltender Brian Stewart has been recalled by the Jackals' AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Stewart, a second-year pro from Burnaby, British Columbia, is 18-10-1-0 with the Jackals this season, posting a .912 save percentage and a 2.89 goals-against average. This is Stewart's seventh recall to Binghamton in 2011-2012. He has not participated in a game with the B-Sens this season.

The Jackals have also re-signed forward Corey Bellamy and Martin Moucha and have added goaltender Nick Niedert to the roster as their emergency backup.

Bellamy, a rookie, has skated in eight games with Elmira this season, collecting eight penalty minutes. He is the younger brother of Jackals forward Rob Bellamy.

Moucha, a second-year pro, has played in four games with the Jackals in 2011-2012, recording an assist. He has also skated in two games this season with the Wheeling Nailers without recording a point and in 29 contests with the FHL's Danbury Whalers, totaling three goals and 17 assists for 20 points. Moucha, from Mlada Boleslav, Czech Repulbic, is a graduate of Elmira's 2009 Pro Placement Camp.

Niedert is 2-0-0-0 with a .904 save percentage and a 2.07 goals-against average with the Jackals in 2011-2012, winning his two starts against Wheeling on Dec. 21 and 26. The 29-year-old from Hudson, Iowa is 5-6-0-0 with the FHL's Danbury Whalers this season, notching a .893 save percentage and a 4.07 goals-against average. Niedert, an eighth-year pro, has also seen action in five games combined between the Trenton Titans and the SPHL's Knoxville Ice Bears this season.
