Stars Send Seven More To Utah: Over the weekend, the Dallas Stars increased the number of assigned players to 18 with the addition of seven players (indicated with *). The following players have been assigned to the Grizzlies from Dallas:
Defensemen- Mark Wotton, Dan Jancevski, Jeff MacMillan*, Alexei Komarov*, Greg Hawgood*
Forwards- Jeff Bateman, Justin Cox, Brett Draney, Gavin Morgan, Barrett Heisten, David Gosselin, Marcus Kristoffersson*, David Oliver*, Steve Gainey*
Goaltenders- Jason Bacashihua, Mike Smith, Corey Hirsch*
The Grizzlies' secondary affiliate, the Montreal Canadiens, have assigned defensemen Matthieu Descoteaux and Francois Beauchemin putting the total number of NHL assigned Grizz players to 20.
Eight Players Held Over From Training Camp: The Utah Grizzlies kept eight players from their recently completed training camp to begin the first week of official practice for the Grizzlies. Three of which spent time in a Grizzlies' uniform last season (forward Blair Manning and defensemen Mike Garrow and Peter Hogan). The other five players are Fraser Clair (competed in Dallas Star's development camp), Jay Banach, Mike Sgori, Jesse Cook and John Dean.
From the Coach: "We will be looking at these guys for the next three-to-five days and then make some decisions after that. Hopefully, one or two of the eight guys will make the team. It just depends on how much room we end up with." (courtesy of Brett Prettyman, the Salt Lake Tribune)
Grizzlies Announce Face-Off Media Luncheon: The Utah Grizzlies will host their annual Face-Off Luncheon on Tuesday, October 15 at the Airport Hilton from 1:00-2:30 pm. On hand will be the Grizzlies' coaching staff, players, broadcasters and staff. All media representatives are invited to attend. Breakfast With The Grizz: The Utah Grizzlies will be serving breakfast on Tuesday, October 8 to all attending media members at the Acord Ice Center prior to the team's practice. Breakfast will be available at 9:15 am followed by media opportunities with Head Coach Don Hay, Assistant Coach Bob Bassen, Director of Hockey Operations Brian Poile and the entire Grizzlies' roster.
