Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL- Justin Bowers scored two goals and added an assist to help carry the Road Warriors to a 3-2 win over the Florida Everblades at Germain Arena Saturday evening.

Both teams were plagued by penalties in the first period but neither team was able to take advantage of the ensuing power plays. The Everblades penalties kill unit played exceptionally, keeping Greenville at bay even while playing two men down at one point.

Greenville, however refused to go into the break without a score, and with just 53 seconds left in the period, Justin Bowers' wrist shot from the right side circle beat Florida goalie Pat Nagle giving the Road Warriors a 1-0 lead.

The Everblades tied up the score in the second period. Florida's goal came when David Rutherford's pass found Scott Pitt in stride and was able to get behind the defense and use a wrist shot to beat Greenville goalie Nic Riopel. The 1-1 score would hold up for the remainder of the period.

The third period saw a lot of excitement from both teams as three goals were scored. The first came from the Road Warriors when Brett Robinson's shot was redirected into the goal by Jeff Prough which gave Greenville a 2-1 lead.

Greenville added another goal less than two minutes later when a pass from Robinson found Justin Bowers in front of the goal, who was able to put it in the net on a wrist shot. Bowers would finish the night with two goals and an assist.

Florida began to rally when Matt Beca scored his 12th of the season at 12:14 of the period to bring the score to 3-2. The remainder of the game saw Florida's offense giving it all it had to tie the game, but Greenville's defense turned back every attempt Florida could muster. Nic Riopel earns the win stopping 19 of 21 shots, while Pat Nagle takes the loss stopping 21 of 24 shots.
