Gladiators Acquire Palmer, Add Brownschidle, Release Eno

The Gwinnett Gladiators have acquired goaltender Joe Palmer from the Reading Royals for future considerations. In separate transactions, the Gladiators have claimed forward David Brownschidle off of waivers from the Wheeling Nailers. In addition, Gwinnett has released goaltender Nick Eno.

Palmer has posted a 5-6-3 record in 16 appearances this season with Reading. He earned a 3.16 goals against average and .916 save percentage with the Royals.

He was 10-14-1 in 28 appearances with the Toledo Walleye in the 2010-11 season while notching a 4.17 goals against average and a .870 save percentage. Palmer skated in 32 games with Fort Worth of the Central Hockey League in his rookie campaign in 2009-10. He earned a 13-10-4 record and a .914 save percentage.

Prior to turning pro, Palmer skated three seasons at Ohio State University from 2006-2009. He skated in 71 games with the Buckeyes in his three year collegiate career. He had a collegiate best 2.96 goals against average in the 2006-07 season. The net-minder was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 4th round of the 2006 NHL entry draft with the 96th overall selection.

Brownschidle joins the Gladiators after he appeared in eight games with the Nailers but did not register a point. The rookie out of Brown University began the season with the Hutsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League. With Huntsville, Brownschidle earned eight points (four goals, four assists) in 19 games.

In four seasons at Brown from 2007-2011, Brownschidle earned 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 114 career collegiate games.

Brownschidle should be available for the Gladiators for tomorrow's 7:05 p.m. tilt against the Elmira Jackals at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Gwinnett also released goaltender Nick Eno. Eno did not appear in any games while with Gwinnett after he was signed on January 20th.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
