
Stingrays Shut Out Titans 2-0 on "Pack the House Night"

North Charleston, SC - Goaltender Daren Machesney (W, 21 saves on 21 shots) recorded his second consecutive shutout as the South Carolina Stingrays (25-17-1-1) blanked the Trenton Titans (15-20-3-3) 2-0 Saturday night in front of 9,783 on Pack the House Night at the North Charleston Coliseum.
The Stingrays kicked off the scoring on the power play with 58 seconds left in the first period when defenseman Brett Flemming blasted a shot past Titans goaltender Dave Caruso (L, 30 saves on 31 shots) from the right-wing point. Defenseman Johann Kroll and forward Maxime Lacroix picked up assists.
With 38 seconds remaining in the middle frame, Machesney left the game with an injury and was replaced by Philipp Grubauer (10 saves on 10 shots).
Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien sealed the victory with an unassisted empty-net goal at 19:14 of the third period. The Stingrays ended the contest 1-for-5 on the power play while the Titans went 0-for-4.
The Stingrays wrap up a three-game in three-day weekend tomorrow, Sunday, January 29 against the Elmira Jackals on Kid's Day at 4:00 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. All kid's tickets are $5!
