Peter Mannino Pitches 3-0 Shutout

Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-0 on Saturday night at the Sears Centre Arena. G Peter Mannino stopped 24 shots to earn the second shutout in team history.

RW Tyler Donati fired a shot off the chest of Cyclones G Chet Pickard and LW Chaz Johnson followed up and slapped the deflection into the back of the net for his 13th goal of the season to give the Express the lead. The period would end with the same 1-0 score. Cincinnati held a 15-14 shot advantage through two frames.

After a major penalty for boarding was assessed to Cincinnati RW Joe Devin, RW Tyler Donati was able to double the Chicago lead. A pass from the left wing by D Brett Motherwell found Donati on top of the right circle, and he blasted home a shot with 4:12 left in the game, putting Chicago up 2-0. Donati then placed the icing on the cake with his second goal of the night, scored on an empty net, with 1:21 remaining in the game. Mannino finished the contest with 24 saves in the game.
