(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Carlos Mesa's three-run homer in the third inning was the big hit for Greenville as the Drive took a 5-3 win over the Lexington Legends Tuesday night.

The Drive had scored a run in the second inning on a leadoff single by Mesa and a two-out triple by Joseph Monge. Mike Meyers started the third inning with a single, and after Mauricio Dubon popped out while trying to bunt, Meyers stole second base. Jordan Procyshen walked and Nick Longhi flied out to right field before Mesa hit a drive over the bleachers in left field, his second home run of the season, and Greenville led 4-0.

The Legends came back with a run in the bottom of the third. With two outs, consecutive singles by Luis Villegas, Carlos Garcia and Humberto Arteaga put Lexington on the board.

Lexington cut the lead to one with two runs in the fifth inning. Michael Hill tripled and scored on a double by Villegas. Garcia reached first on an error by shortstop Javier Guerra, and then was forced out at second base on Arteaga's grounder to shortstop as Villegas moved to third. Arteaga then stole second, and Villegas scored when Procyshen's throw went into center field for an error.

The score remained 4-3 until the ninth when the Drive added an insurance run on back-to-back doubles by Guerra and Monge.

Greenville starter Ty Buttrey (1-0) got the win. He worked the first seven innings and gave up six hits and two earned runs. He walked one batter and struck out three.

Matt Tenuta (1-2), the Legends' starter, was the losing pitcher.

Greenville has won the first two games of the series, which concludes with a morning game Wednesday. First pitch is set for 10:05 a.m.
