Greenville drops 5-2 decision to the Pee Dee Pride in Florence, SC

FLORENCE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl traveled to Florence, South Carolina Saturday and dropped a 5-2 decision to the Pee Dee Pride.

The Grrrowl spotted the Pride a 1-0 lead on a goal by Kyle Kidney at 8:16 of the first period, before MATT DEMARSKI tied the game at 1-1 with his 12th of the season at 13:23 of the opening period. Matt Reid gave Pee Dee a 2-1 lead with 2:18 left in the first. Matt Reid scored his second of the night at 7:28 of the second period to give Pee Dee a 3-1, before MARTIN MASA pulled Greenville back within one, 3-2, at 11:43. Alan Sirois scored another second period goal, and Derek Haldorson scored the only third period goal as Pee Dee went on to the 5-2 victory. The Pride outshot the Grrrowl 33-28. Grrrowl forward MIKKO SIVONEN left the game early in the second period after he was hit in the face with the puck after Pride goaltender Ron Vogel try to clear the zone. Sivonen had 15 points in his previous 10 games before Saturday's game in Florence.

The Greenville Grrrowl return home after the holiday break to host the Southeast Division-rival Florida Everblades next Friday, December 27th (7:05 PM) and Saturday, December 28th (7:05 PM).
