GREENSBORO GENERALS

The Generals defeated the Richmond Renegades 6-3 last night. Greensboro's Jay Murphy scored just 1:14 into the game for a 1-0 lead , but the Renegades tied it up before the break. The Generals exploded for three straight goals in the second period from Chris Bell, Murphy, and Vlad Serov, taking a 4-1 advantage into the final period. Shane Campbell made the score 5-1 in the opening minute of the third period, and after a pair of Renegade goals, Sam Ftorek put the game away with a power play goal.

RICHMOND RENEGADES

The Renegades fell to the Generals 6-3 at home last night in the first game of a home-and-home series. Spotting Greensboro a 1-0 lead, Alex Matieroukine evened the score before the end of the first period. However, Richmond wouldn't score again until the Generals held a commanding 5-1 lead, with Nick Lent and Matieroukine cutting the gap to 5-3. The final moments of the game were marred by several penalties, with the Renegades racking up 61 penalty minutes in the final seven minutes of the contest.

¨ 12/21 Placed right wing Jay Murphy on the 7-day injured list.

¨ 12/21 Signed defenseman Travis Smith.

NOTES & NUMBERS

¨ Vlad Serov was suspended by the ECHL for tonight's game as a result of his actions in last night's game.

¨ The Generals are 15-3-2 in their last 20 games and 10-1-1 in their last twelve games.

¨ Jamie Hodson is 5-0-1 in his last six appearances, and is currently second in the league in save percentage (.935) and fifth in goals against average (2.47).

¨ Last night's 52 combined shots was a season low in a Generals game. Greensboro posted 25 of the shots.

¨ The Renegades' Lars Pettersen, Richard Pitirri, and Leon Hayward were all suspended by the league for tonight's game as a result of their actions last night.

¨ Nick Lent's goal last night snapped a stretch of 40 straight power play chances without a goal.

¨ Richmond is 7-0 in games decided in overtime or by shootout.

¨ The Renegades are third in the league with a 84.7% penalty killing percentage and are tied for the league lead with eight shorthanded goals.

ABOUT THE GAME

This is the fourth of eight meetings between the Generals and Renegades this year, and the second in as many nights. The Generals are 1-0-2 against Richmond this year, losing a pair of 3-2 overtime decisions prior to last night's 6-3 win.
