Greensboro Pitching Dismantles I's 4-1

Kannapolis, NC - Greensboro starter Jose Garcia allowed one unearned run in seven innings striking out ten Intimidators hitters helping the Grasshoppers to a 4-1 win in front of 3,384 fans at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium Friday night. Garcia out dueled I's starter Lucas Harrell who allowed just two runs in six innings. Harrell falls to 4-6 with the tough luck loss. Garcia is now 3-0 in just three starts and one appearance out of the bullpen. South Atlantic League All Star Chris Mobley pitched a perfect ninth for his 18th save.

Brett Carroll's 15th homer of the year broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth. The Grasshoppers added two more on four hits in the seventh to extend to a 4-1 lead. Greensboro got on the board in the fifth when left fielder Jared Gaston reached on a base hit, stole second, moved to third on a fly ball out to right, and came home on a Brian Cleveland RBI single. K-town responded in the bottom of the fifth when Donny Lucy singled home Ryan McCarthy to tie it at one.

Lucy was the only Intimidator with two hits. Kannapolis hosts Greensboro for the second game of a three game series tomorrow night at 7:05 pm following the Susan G. Komen baseball clinic presented by Rowan Regional Medical Center. The clinic starts at 10:00 am.
