Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

AN ALL-AMERICAN FESTIVAL ALL WEEKEND-LONG WRAPPED AROUND AMERICA'S GREATEST PASTIME!

Patriotism is simply defined as "love and devotion to one's country." At Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, we want to show our patriotism with our "2nd Annual FREEDOM WEEKEND CELEBRATION." The celebration will last three days, includes two fireworks shows, and one never-before-seen All-American video montage. Fans are encouraged to show their true Red, White, & Blue Spirit and root for your hometown team as we will celebrate, commemorate, remember, honor, laugh and smile, as Your Delmarva Shorebirds have a whole array of events planned. From giveaways to the first ever "Red Neck Olympics" to writing messages on six-foot scrolls to send to our U.S. Troops. These events are all wrapped around a 3-day tribute to the men and women of our armed forces that are stationed throughout our country and overseas. Including one of Shorebirds' own, Heads Ground Keeper, Josh Marden. Marden received notice in early January that his National Guard unit had to take an 18-month deployment in support of ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom.' He had to leave the Front Office of Your Delmarva Shorebirds and on Saturday, July 2; Sunday, July 3; Monday, July 4 he is one of the many Americans we will honor and support as we all enjoy "Freedom Weekend Celebration."

"Josh's departure was sudden and we want him and his platoon to know we support them and all of our US Troops." General Manager, Stephen C. Yaros stated. "Your Shorebirds want thank all the men and women who have devoted and sacrificed their lives to protect our country and our freedoms. We encourage the fans of Delmarva to come out to Arthur W. Perdue Stadium with your family this July 4th weekend, as we honor all that America stands for."

Ignite your holiday weekend excitement with Your Delmarva Shorebirds, starting Saturday, July 2nd at 7:05 p.m. On Sunday, July 3rd at 1:35pm as they take on the Power from West Virginia. Then on the Monday night, 4th of July, game time is at 7:05pm and Your ‘Birds will face the Hagerstown Suns. Gates will open one hour prior to each game time. Make sure to wear your red, white, and blue!

Saturday, July 2nd will be the Froggy 99.9 FM Fireworks Spectacular in 3-D! That's right, back by popular demand and brought to us by Bank of America. The first 1,000 fans will receive 3-D glasses and when that last out of the game is made, will watch the intense colors explode through the nighttime sky. The fireworks will seem like they are right on top of you! Also, on Saturday evening, beginning at 5pm will be the first ever Froggy 99.9 "Redneck Olympics" to take place inside Your Shorebirds "AquaFina Fun Zone." From ‘Red Neck Horse-Shoes' a.k.a ‘Toilet Seat Toss', ‘Corn Dog Eating Contest' and a ‘Hoe-Down Dance-Off!' Prizes will be awarded and the grand prize includes tickets to the Froggy 99.9 Country Concert Series this summer at the Bay Center in Dewey Beach, DE.

Sunday, July 3rd we have teamed up with The Wave 92.1FM of Clear Channel Radio of Salisbury for An All-American Hot Rod Car Show. Also, be one of the first 1,000 fans through the gate because you will receive one of the summer's coolest giveaways, it's the Pepsi All American Red, White and Blue Junior Bat! When the game is finished Your Shorebirds encourage families to come down on the field and watch as their kids can run the bases and families can play catch in the outfield! Plus get a free Pepsi product after the game when you exit the stadium.

Monday, July 4th the only place you need to know is, Arthur W. Perdue Stadium because it is the home of The ONE, The ONLY, The Largest fireworks on Delmarva...it's "The Daily Times 4th Annual Red, White and Blowout Spectacular!!!" The only 4th of July Fireworks in Salisbury, by far the LARGEST Fireworks Show of the YEAR and all synchronized to An All-American Musical Show! Be awed by the fiery colors and blaze of glory that will brighten the nighttime sky over Perdue Stadium. Delmarva has never seen a fireworks display as amazing as this promises to be. Also be the first of 500 fans through the gates and you will receive a Mini-American Flag, courtesy of the Jaycees of Salisbury. Plus, Sherman the Shorebird has a special surprise in store for the fans following the game, leading up to fireworks. As your hometown team has been on numerous road trips this season, Sherman has been flying around our great nation and fans will be able to see a video collage of Sherman's trip around the world! Something you have to see to believe!

Your Shorebirds "2nd Annual Freedom Weekend Celebration" will be an event Americans will be proud of. Show your pride and support for our troops by coming out and spending the weekend at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
