WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Goldeyes signed right-handed pitcher Kyle Lotzkar on Thursday morning.

The 26-year-old Delta, B.C. native was drafted in the first round (53rd overall) by the Cincinnati Reds in 2007 and attended Major League spring training with the Reds in both 2012 and 2013.

Lotzkar has 20 wins, 23 losses and two saves with a 4.70 ERA in 147 career games -73 of which he started - in eight professional seasons.

Lotzkar spent the last two seasons with the Double-A Texas League's Frisco RoughRiders (Texas Rangers) and has finished with more strikeouts than innings pitched in six of his first eight professional seasons. He has averaged 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings during his professional career.

He has held the opposition to a .232 average with runners in scoring position in his career and has held the opposition to a .198 average with two outs and runners in scoring position.

"We're hoping his experience will help add quality depth to the pitching staff," Goldeyes' manager Rick Forney said.

Lotzkar played for the Canadian Junior National Team in 2007 and made the World roster for the 2012 All-Star Futures Game. He missed the 2009 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Lotzkar and Goldeyes infielder Wes Darvill (born in Richmond, B.C.) both played for the Langley Blaze while growing up.

In separate transactions, the Goldeyes have claimed left-handed pitchers Ethan Carnes and Bennett Parry off waivers from the Texas AirHogs and Lincoln Saltdogs respectively.

Carnes was 2-0 with a 3.45 ERA in five starts for Texas, and has been placed on the disabled list retroactive to June 11th. Carnes is 7-0 with two saves and a 2.33 ERA in four professional seasons, and was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 21st round in 2013 out of the University of Oklahoma.

Parry was 1-0 with a 3.24 ERA in four starts for the Saltdogs, and has been placed on the inactive list retroactive to June 6th. Players must stay on the inactive list for at least 30 days. Parry is 11-12 with one save and a 2.75 ERA in six professional seasons, and was a 40th-round selection of the Baltimore Orioles in 2011 out of California State University, Northridge.

Additionally, left-handed pitcher Trevor Lubking has been transferred from the disabled List to the inactive List retroactive to May 17th.

The Goldeyes conclude a three-game series against the Texas AirHogs at Shaw Park this morning at 11:05 a.m. Kevin McGovern takes on left-hander Griffin Russell.
