Texas AirHogs News Release

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Canada - The Winnipeg Goldeyes offense went off for 14 runs and 14 hits to run away with the rubber match of the 3-game set vs. the AirHogs 14-5 at Shaw Park Thursday afternoon. LF Burt Reynolds launched his 13th home run of the season to spark a 4-run 6th, but the late rally was not enough to overcome a sizeable early deficit.

Griffin Russell got the ball to start for Texas. The lefty surrendered 7 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks in the 1st.

The AirHogs got 1 back in the top of the 2nd on a sacrifice fly by Cody Lenahan that scored Austin Gallagher. The Goldeyes responded with 3 straight over the next 2 frames vs. Russell to run the score to 10-1.

Reynolds teed off Winnipeg starter Kevin McGovern for a solo blast to start the 6th, and Lenahan, plus Michael Valadez and Michael Hur chipped in RBIs to reduce the lead to 10-5.

The Goldeyes answered right back though, tagging relief man Paxton Bartley for 4 unearned runs in the bottom of the 6th. Bartley went 2 frames in his professional debut.

Adam Heisler and Carlton Tanabe each drove in 3 to lead the way for the Goldeyes, who improved to 15-12 with the victory.

The AirHogs (11-16) travel south to Sioux City to open a 3-game series vs. the Explorers (13-13) Friday at 7 pm. RHP Sam Martin is expected to start for the AirHogs.

A live radio broadcast will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
