A veteran right-hander, Kussmaul began his professional career with the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League in 2009. After spending a little over a year with the Miners, Kussmaul was signed by the Chicago White Sox. The righty spent five seasons in the White Sox system, climbing as high as Triple-A Charlotte in 2012 and 2014. Last year, the 29-year old pitched for Long Island of the Atlantic League, compiling 26 saves as the Ducks closer. Kussmaul will be added to Wichita's starting rotation, and will make his debut on Friday night against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

'NUTS, T-BONES RAINED OUT

Strong storms in the late afternoon and early evening forced the middle game of the three-game series between the Wichita Wingnuts and Kansas City T-Bones to be postponed Wednesday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. The contest will be made up as part of a double dip on August 16, when the T-Bones return to Wichita for the two clubs' final regular season series. Both contests that evening will be seven-inning affairs. The postponement is the first of the season for Wichita and is the third overall affected by weather. Previously, the Wingnuts had had one game completed early, and one game with a delayed start.

ROSTER MOVES

Ahead of today's contest, Wichita made a pair of roster moves. Righty Kevin Osaki was released, and veteran right-hander Ryan Kussmaul was signed. The 29-year old Kussmaul most recently played for Long Island in the Atlantic League, collecting 26 saves a year ago. The righty will be joining the Wingnuts starting rotation, and will make his debut Friday night.
