Golden State Warriors Assign Kevon Looney and Alen Smailagc to Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Golden State Warriors have assigned forwards Kevon Looney and Alen Smailagić to the Santa Cruz Warriors, the team's NBA G League affiliate, both teams announced today.

Looney, a five-year NBA veteran, owns career averages of 4.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 14.0 minutes over 205 career games (33 starts) with the Golden State Warriors. The 30th overall selection by Golden State in the 2015 NBA draft, Looney has appeared in one game this season and has missed the last 13 games due to a neuropathy condition. The 23-year-old has appeared in 16 career games (one start) with Santa Cruz during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 NBA G League seasons, logging 10.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.94 blocks in 19.3 minutes per game.

Smailagić played in 47 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors during the 2018-19 NBA G League season, averaging 9.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 17.4 minutes. Drafted in the second round (39th overall) of the 2019 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans, Smailagić was acquired by the Golden State Warriors in exchange for the team's 2021 and 2023 second round picks along with cash considerations. The 6'11 forward from Belgrade, Serbia has yet to appear in an NBA game this season due to a right ankle sprain.

The Warriors will host the Northern Arizona Suns at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Thursday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m. PST.
