November 19, 2019 - NBA G League (G League)
College Park Skyhawks News Release
FORT WAYNE, IN-The College Park Skyhawks knocked down 18 three-pointers and Anthony "Cat" Barber had a season-high 27 points to take down the Mad Ants on the road Monday night, 119-101. With the win, the Skyhawks improve to 2-2 on the season. Video highlights of the game can be foundÃÂ here.
After a back-and-forth first quarter that would see College Park leading 22-21, Barber got to work, scoring 15 off the bench to help his team go up by five at the half. College Park was pesky on defense in the opening two quarters of play, forcing 12 Fort Wayne turnovers, while only committing six.
The Skyhawks wasted no time out of the break, as Marcus Derrickson nailed a three and Barber scored seven points in a minute and a half to put the visitors up by 13. The Mad Ants managed to pull within 10, but another three from Barber extinguished the threat. The 18-point win is the largest margin of victory for the Skyhawks in the 2019-20 season.
As a team, College Park connected at a 42% clip from beyond the arc (18-43), a season-best. Barber led all scorers with 27 points and 10 assists on an efficient 10-18 shooting performance, including four from long range. Six other Skyhawks scored in double-figures, including a season-high 19 points from Ogden, Jr., who went 3-4 from the three-point line. Marcus Derrickson added 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Kenny Gabriel, Tahjere McCall and Brandon Goodwin chipped in 13 points each. Jordan Sibert scored 11 to round out the scoring effort.
"I just came in tonight and wanted to show up for the team," said Barber. "(Out of halftime), we knew we had to play with great energy and be aggressive and play defense. We were sharing the ball tonight and that led to open shots and open threes."
The Skyhawks return to action on Thursday night, taking their home court for the first time in the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Gateway Center Arena @ College Park against the Delaware Blue Coats.ÃÂ For more information on the Skyhawks inaugural season and to register for updates, please visitÃÂ CPSkyhawks.com.
