Goaltender Jack Flinn Joins Ontario Reign

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach, Rich Seeley, announced today that the Monarchs have been assigned Sam Brittain and Teddy Doherty by the Springfield Thunderbirds. In separate transactions, Joe Pendenza, Jack Flinn and Eddie Wittchow have been called to the AHL.
The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings and the American Hockey League's Ontario Reign.
Brittain, a 6-foot-3, 227-pound goaltender, was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 4th round (#92 overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Last season, Brittain appeared in 25 games with the Portland Pirates (AHL), posting an 8-10-3 record, a 2.79 GAA and a 0.906 save percentage. In 2014-15, Brittain split time between the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) and San Antonio Rampage (AHL) in his first professional season.
The 24-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta, played collegiately at the University of Denver from 2010-2014, and was named the NCAA Goaltender of the Year for the 2013-14 season, as well as a member of the West First All-American Team.
Doherty, 22, played in two games for the Cyclones this season, and recorded two penalty minutes.
The 5-foot-9, 172-pound defenseman from Hopkinton, Mass., played four seasons collegiately for Boston College, where he was named captain his final season. At Boston College, Doherty played in 144 games and scored 80 points on 22 goals and 58 assists. After leaving school, Doherty played in one game for the Missouri Mavericks last season.
Pendenza, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound center from Wilmington, Mass, played in all four games for the Monarchs this season, recording five points on three goals and two assists. Pendenza split time between the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) and Cincinnati Cyclones in the 2015-16 season.
Flinn, a 6-foot-8, 233-pound goaltender heads to Ontario after getting one start with the Monarchs this season, posting an 0-1-0-0 record, a 4.09 GAA and a 0.840 save percentage. Flinn is in his first professional season after spending the last three seasons in the OHL with the Mississauga Steelheads and Owen Sound Attack.
Wittchow, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound defensemen, played all four games for the Monarchs this season, chipping in two assists in his rookie campaign. Wittchow was drafted by the Florida Panthers in round 6th round (#154 overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Brittain, Doherty and the Monarchs are back in action Friday, Oct. 28 (7 p.m.) when they host the Cincinnati Cyclones for the first time in franchise history at SNHU Arena.
