Savannah, GA - Savannah LHP Mark Cohoon has been named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 31-June 6, 2010.

Cohoon's only outing in the week was a complete game shutout of the Asheville Tourists in a 6-0 Savannah win on June 4. He struck out 10 Tourists, walked one, and gave up only three hits. It was the first nine-inning complete game shutout in the South Atlantic League in 2010.

The 22-year old Cohoon is currently third in the SAL in ERA (1.62), first in innings pitched (72.1) and fourth in strikeouts (63). He owns a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 4.5 (63 K/14 BB). He has helped lead the Sand Gnats to the best ERA (2.43) in the SAL this year.

Cohoon was 9-2 with a 2.15 ERA in 14 starts for the Brooklyn Cyclones in the New York-Penn League last year.

The Mets drafted Cohoon in the 12th round of the 2008 draft out of North Central Texas College.
