Glenn Drives in Five as Herd Tops Pigs, 7-2
June 25, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Bisons' offense clicked on the Thursday afternoon, scoring seven runs on 11 hits in a 7-2 victory over Lehigh Valley at Coca-Cola Field. Brad Glenn led the charge with three hits and five RBI as the Herd avoided a three-game sweep by the IronPigs.
"We had a good day today," said manager Gary Allenson.
Glenn had three run-producing hits on the day, starting with a two-run single in the first inning that got the Bisons on the scoreboard. The slugger then connected on another two-run single in the fourth inning and knocked in a fifth run in the sixth that gave Buffalo an insurmountable 6-0 cushion.
After the big game, Glenn now has 32 RBI on the season.
Also contributing for the Herd on Thursday was Devon Travis, who has been with the team on rehab assignment. The Blue Jays' second baseman had three hits and a walk, scoring twice. He also showed great hustle, turning his fourth inning hit into centerfield into a double and stealing second base after his third hit of the day.
Bisons' starter Chad Jenkins was a last minute start over Matt Boyd for the Herd on Thursday afternoon. The righty struck out fivers and allowed just three hits in four shutout innings.
"He did well for the last minute start," said Allenson. "[Jenkins] was ready to go five innings, but with a 26 pitch count in the first inning, we wanted to pull him when we did."
The win Buffalo went to Greg Burke, who joined the team just hours before the game from the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats. He struck out two batters in two shutout innings in relief for Jenkins.
The Bisons will now travel to Scranton/WB for a three-game series, then returning to Buffalo next Monday.
