The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (29-46) dropped the series finale to the Buffalo Bisons (35-39) by a score of 7-2 on Thursday afternoon at Coca-Cola Field.
Buffalo put up three runs in the home half of the first to take an early 3-0 lead. A pair of bloop singles put two runners on before Brad Glenn drove home both runners with a two-run single. Three batters later, Glenn came around to score on an RBI single from Melky Mesa.
Glenn struck again with a two-run single in the fourth that extended the Bisons lead to 5-0.
All five runs were charged to Pigs starter Anthony Vasquez (3-3) who gave up the five runs on six hits while walking five and fanning two over 3.1 IP.
Buffalo starter Chad Jenkins (n/d) allowed three hits over four shutout innings to go along with a walk and five strikeouts.
RHP Greg Burke (2.0 IP, 2 K) got the win for the Bisons and now sits at 1-0 on the year.
In the bottom of the sixth, Glenn drove home his fifth run of the day with an RBI single to score Devon Travis and open up a 6-0 advantage for the Herd.
The IronPigs cut the lead to 6-2 with a pair of runs in the seventh as Blake Forsythe (1-4, 2B, RBI) drove home Chris McGuiness-who had reached with a leadoff single-with an RBI double and Chase d'Arnaud (1-5, RBI) delivered the other run in the inning via an RBI groundout.
Alex Hassan's solo shot in the home half of the frame extended the Buffalo lead to 7-2. It was the first home run of the season for Hassan.
