Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
Moosic, Pa. - Named to the prestigious SiriusXM All-Star Futures game earlier in the day, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) outfielder Aaron Judge provided one of the few SWB highlights in a 15-2 loss to the Louisville Bats (Cincinnati Reds) on Thursday night. Judge lined a two-run homer into the visiting bullpen for his first Triple-A round-tripper. The RailRiders (43-32) and Bats (36-38) split the four-game series.
The Bats amassed 24 hits (20 singles) to hand the RailRiders their most lopsided loss of the year. They sent nine or more men to the plate in three different innings including a seven-run third championed by a three-run homer from Yorman Rodriguez.
SWB starter Jaron Long (5-5) allowed 11 runs on 14 hits in 4.1 innings to suffer the loss. His counterpart, David Holmberg (4-5), tossed a season-best eight innings of two-run ball for the win.
On Friday night the RailRiders welcome the Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays) to town for a three-game set. SWB is scheduled to start top Yankees prospect Luis Severino (3-0, 2.15) against former New York Yankee Jeff Francis (2-0, 2.06). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The game will air live regionally on WQMY MyTV at 7 p.m. with John Sadak and Scranton Times-Tribune writer Donnie Collins on the call. Darren Headrick will have the radio call on NEPA Sports Radio THE GAME starting at 6:35 p.m.
The RailRiders are home through Sunday with a bevy of promotions throughout the homestand. The highlight giveaway comes on Saturday, June 27 when the first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Rob Refsnyder bobblehead, presented by Keystone Sanitary Landfill.
