
Gladiators Hold on For 5-4 Shootout Win

The Gwinnett Gladiators held on for a 5-4 shootout win over the Texas Wildcatters after giving up 4 third period goals on Tuesday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. From the start, it looked as if the Gladiators were going to dominate the Texas Wildcatters as Rick Emmett gave Gwinnett a 1-0 lead just :47 seconds into the opening period. Jeff Campbell dropped the puck back to the point for a streaking in Emmett from the bench to add an assist on the goal. Peter Flache also picked up a helper on the tally. Kris Goodjohn pushed the Gladiators lead to 2-0 with his fourth goal of the season on the power play as he whacked the puck out of the air past Texas netminder Phil Oaser at 11:11 of the first period. Chris Durno and Brett Engelhardt picked up the assists on the goal. Gwinnett extend its lead to 3-0 on Jeff Campbell's third goal of the season 3:16 into the second period. Mike Vigilante hooked up with Peter Flache for the helpers on the goal. Brad Schell scored his first goal of the season to give the Gladiators a 4-0 lead at 16:50 of the second period on a slap shot from the right wing circle. Mike Stathopoulos added an assist on the goal. Texas mounted a comeback on four third period goals, the first by John Snowden on the power play 5:55 into the final period. Lou Dickenson and Dean Stork added the assists on Texas' first goal in team history against the Gladiators. Brian Passmore cut the Gladiators lead to two goals at 14:41 of the third period as he took a pass from Jeremy Swanson and beat Gladiators netminder T.J. Aceti for the tally. Aaron MacInnis got Texas within one goal off a feed from Jason Kostadine and Brad Voth with 2:48 remaining in the third period. Lou Dickinson slid past the Gladiators defense and beat Aceti on a breakaway with 1:10 left in the third period. Dean Stork and Jeremy Swanson added the assists on the tally. Brad Schell's seventh round shootout goal was the difference as both teams converted once during regulation of the shootout. T.J. Aceti made 22 saves in the win for the Gladiators.

The Central Division Champion Gwinnett Gladiators continue their second season at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday, November 19th at 7:35 p.m. as they host the Charlotte Checkers.
