San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO - The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, who are the Gulls' American Hockey League affiliate, have announced that they, in conjunction with the NHL's Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, will play three of their regular season games up the freeway at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim in November and December. Cincinnati is Anaheim's primary AHL affiliate.
Cincinnati will play the Grand Rapids Griffins (Detroit Red Wings' AHL affiliate) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24 and the Edmonton Road Runners (Edmonton Oilers' AHL affiliate) at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17 and a time to be announced on Saturday, Dec. 18. All three games will benefit the "Firefighters Spark of Love Toy Drive," which assists underprivileged children. Fans bringing an unwrapped toy to any of the three games ($10 or greater) will receive a Cincinnati Mighty Ducks autographed player card.
The three-game set will afford Gulls fans a chance to see Sean O' Connor, as well as other future NHL players. O' Connor began his season with the Gulls, but was called up by Cincinnati and has been with the AHL squad ever since. Fans can take advantage of reduced parking, concession and merchandise prices for all three games.
The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim also announced that a diamond pendant, valued at $5,000, will be given away to one lucky fan at the Dec. 18 contest, courtesy of Jeweler's Touch. Five contestants for the drawing will be selected at each of the three games, with an additional 15 fans to be randomly picked on Dec. 18. During the second intermission of the Dec. 18 match, the 25 contestants will be blindfolded on the ice and search through 50 boxes, one of which will contain the diamond pendant.
Individual tickets for all three games will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m., through www.mightyducks.com or www.ticketmaster.com, by phone with Ticketmaster at (714) 740-2000 or in person at the Arrowhead Pond Box Office or at the ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney.
The Gulls will head up to Bakersfield again this Saturday for a 7 p.m. match before returning home on Wednesday, Nov. 17 for another tiff with the Condors. The game will be the second "Wacky Wednesday" of the season and the first "Pooch Party." THAT MEANS ALL FANS IN ATTENDANCE ARE INVITED TO BRING THEIR DOG TO THE GAME!
All games can be heard live on KLSD 1360AM and www.sandiegogulls.com with Chris Ello calling the play-by-play.
