
First Place Condors Prepare to Host Three Key Games

Last Week Tuesday, CONDORS 5 vs. Alaska Aces 2; attendance: 3,217 Bakersfield came out strong after an eight-day layoff to trounce the Alaska Aces 5-2, opening a five- game homestand in the process. Rookie Connor James scored twice and set up another while Randy Petruk won his fourth game of the season between the pipes. Dennis Shiryaev, Paul Rosebush and Vlad Serov all scored for Bakersfield in the win. NHL All- Star Scott Gomez, who is now playing for the Aces during the NHL lockout, was held without a point in the game, while Condors veteran blueliner Guy Dupuis recorded three assists.
Saturday, CONDORS 4 vs. San Diego Gulls 1; attendance: 5,473 Bakersfield fell behind 1-0 for the first time all season on Saturday night, only to rally and put home four unanswered goals in a 4-1 win in the first of 10 meetings with San Diego this season. Bakersfield pelted the Gulls net with 41 shots, earning goals from Paul Rosebush, Mike Hofstrand, Guy Dupuis and Dennis Shiryaev's penalty shot tally late in the third. L.A. Kings prospect Yutaka Fukufuji stopped 26 shots in earning his first victory of the season.
Where We Are The Condors own one of only two flawless records in the ECHL this season, and sit atop the West Division with a 5-0-0 record. The Idaho Steelheads also have 10 points in the standings, but have played three more games than Bakersfield.
This week The Condors return to action with three games in three nights this week, starting with two games against the Toledo Storm. It starts on Thursday night with Student ID Night. All junior high, high school and college students can purchase tickets in the lower bowl for just $1 by presenting their student ID to the Garden box office, sponsored by WB-12 and KRAB Radio 106.1. On Friday there will be a special visit from the world's smallest Elvis impersonator. "Little e" appears at the Garden courtesy of Bright House Networks and KGEO AM 1230. In addition, everyone will receive a 2004-05 Bakersfield Condors team poster. On Saturday the Condors will don special Veterans' Day jerseys for the first Jersey Off Our Backs raffle and auction to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. KUZZ 107.9 and McDonald's sponsor the jersey auction, while everyone in attendance has the chance to win one of five jerseys that will be raffled off that night.
This week's Condors Coach's Show will start at the regular time of 6:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Select and run until the start of the game broadcast. The show will be hosted by Kevin Bartl and Puck (the host of KGEO's "The Puck Show"). "Condors Countdown" starts 15 minutes prior to game time. ECHL Player of the Week with 1g-3a-4pts in two games. · Paul Rosebush and Dennis Shiryaev have both scored goals in the last two games. · Shiryaev's tally on Saturday was the first penalty shot of the season for the Condors or their opponent. · The Condors have five power play goals in their last eight opportunities. · Every player who has appeared in all five games for Bakersfield this season has at least one point. Twelve players have at least one goal and 10 players have at least four points thus far. · Thursday and Friday's games against Toledo represent the first non-divisional games for the Condors. · The Condors lead the league with an average of 4.6 goals per game and also have a league-low 22.4 shots allowed per game average.
