Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators earned four points last weekend after they swept a two game series against the Florida Everblades at the Arena Gwinnett Center. The Gladiators (17-9-6-3) continue to remain tops in the South Division with 43 points, three points ahead of the second place Greenville Road Warriors who have 40 points on the season. The Gladiators will battle the Road Warriors this weekend in a three-game set.
Greenville Road Warriors Preview:
The Gladiators are 1-2-0-0 against the Greenville Road Warriors this season. In their last meeting, the Road Warriors beat the Gladiators 3-1. Defenseman David Stratham scored the lone goal for the Gladiators in the loss. Greenville's record is 19-13-1-1 on the season and they currently rank second in the South Division, three points behind the Glads. Gwinnett will have to look out for the Road Warriors leading scorer Brendan Connolly, who has notched 43 points (20 goals, 23 assists) for Greenville this season.

Friday, January 6: Gwinnett Gladiators, 4, Florida Everblades, 3 - W
The Gwinnett Gladiators defeated the Florida Everblades with a 5-3 shoot out victory Friday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Justin Milo, Dallas Jackson and Shane Sims posted goals for Gwinnett. Brad Miller had the game winner in the shootout as he slipped the puck past Florida netminder Phillipp Nagle. Nikita Kashirsky notched two assists on the win.
Saturday, January 7: Gwinnett Gladiators, 6, South Carolina Stingrays, 2 - W
The Gwinnett Gladiators collected a 6-2 victory over the Florida Everblades Saturday night as they concluded a two-game set this weekend at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Tyler Murovich collected the first star of the game with one goal and two assists for the win. Both Shane Sims and Dallas Jackson each had a power play goal and Chris Clackson notched three assists in the game.
News & Notes:
Nikita Kashirsky : The Moscow, Russia native notched four assists in his last two games against the Florida Everblades. With these additional four points, he has collected 22 points (5 goals, 17 assists) on the season, tied with Joey Haddad for the top spot among scorers on the Gladiators.
Leading Defenseman : Defenseman Shane Sims posted a goal in each game of last weekend's two-game set. He currently leads the Gladiators defensemen in goals with a total of five markers on the season. His 15 points also leads all blueliners in scoring for Gwinnett.
Stepping Up: Gladiators forward Justin Milo added another two-point night for Gwinnett in the 6-2 win over the Florida Everblades Saturday night. For Milo, it was his fourth multiple point game for Gwinnett in the past five games, the most for any player for the Gladiators over that span.
Collecting Season Highs : Chris Clackson collected three assists in Gwinnett's 6-2 victory over the Florida Everblades, setting a new Gladiators season high of most assists in a single game by one player. He has earned 19 points (8 goals, 11 assists) this season. Clackson had a strong December for Gwinnett posting three goals and eight assists for 11 points.
On the Power Play : Gwinnett snapped a six game power play goal drought with three man-advantage goals in back-to-back games against the Everblades last week. The Glads were 0-for-25 in their last six games on the man-advantage prior to last weekend's performance. The Glads are ranked 17th in the ECHL on the power play. Defensemen Dallas Jackson and Shane Sims combined for the three power play goals in the victories against the Blades.
Upcoming Events and Promotions:
Saturday, January 14: Teddy Bear Toss - It is the 9th Annual Teddy Bear Toss Night for Gwinnett Gladiators fans. We encourage all of our fans to bring a stuffed animal or teddy bear to throw onto the ice following the Gladiators first goal. All stuffed animals that are collected will be donated to local children's charities in North Georgia.
Monday, January 16: MLK/Kids Day Out - Join the Gladiators for a special Monday afternoon matinee as they host the Greenville Road Warriors at 12:30 p.m. Through a special online ticket offer available through Sunday, January 15th, fans can purchase a lower level ticket, a soda and a hot dog for only $12 for Monday's game.
