Gladiators Scratch Out Lynx, 5-1

Guillaume Desbiens posted two goals while Milan Gajic picked up a goal and an assist to help the Gladiators past the August Lynx 5-1 on Thursday Night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Gwinnett jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Jimmy Sharrow's second goal of the season. Sharrow slid past the August defense and took a pass from Milan Gajic and beat Augusta netminder Mike Wall 3:53 into the first period. Scott Kelman also had an assist on the goal.

Desbiens gave the Gladiators a 2-0 lead as he extended his goal scoring streak to four games. His snapshot beat Wall for the tally 6:47 into the first. Jeff Campbell and Troy Milam had the assists on the goal.

A power play goal from Derek Nesbitt 15:49 into the first gave Gwinnett a 3-0 lead. Deflected in the slot right to Nesbitt, the forward beat an out-of-position Wall from the left wing circle. Danny Eberly and Campbell picked up the assists on the marker.

Milan Gajic posted his first professional goal as he walked through the Augusta defense and beat Wall to give Gwinnett a 4-0 lead. His unassisted tally came 1:45 into the second period.

Augusta snapped Gladiators netminder Adam Berkhoel's shutout bid with a power play goal 1:45 into the third period. A rebound bounced out of a pile right to a waiting Joe Pereira in the right wing circle where he jammed it home. Chris Leinweber and Ryan Lang picked up the assists on the goal.

Desbiens netted his second of the night to round out the scoring 2:46 into the third period. Keeping the puck on a 2-on-1, Desbiens ripped a slapshot past Wall for the tally. Jeff Campbell had an assist on the tally.

Adam Berkhoel made 32 saves for the win to help the Gladiators improve to 16-6-4 on the season. Gwinnett went 1-for-2 on the power play in the win.
