Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Mike Pandolfo has left the Royals to play for EHC Munich in the German 2.Bundesliga.
At the time of his departure, Pandolfo, a fourth year pro from Winchester, MA, was leading the Royals with fourteen goals (14g - 11a = 25 pts) in 23 games. Over the course of the season, Pandolfo, who played his college hockey at Boston University, had four separate two-goal games, including Reading's 3-1 win over the Stockton Thunder on Tuesday night when one his two goals proved to be his third game winner of the year. Pandolfo also scored his second short-handed goal of the season in last night's 6-4 win over Stockton. The twenty-six year old Pandolfo was selected as the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week in the league's opening week, during which he scored a short-handed game winner in the Royals' first game of the season. In late November, Pandolfo, who played the last three seasons with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL, was loaned to the AHL's Binghamton Senators, where he played one game before returning to the Royals. Over the course his 23 games with Reading, Pandolfo, who is the brother of NHL veteran Jay Pandolfo, had six multi-point performances and had a ten game point streak from November 11 through December 11, during which he scored seven goals and added seven assists.
The Royals take on the Stockton Thunder for the third consecutive game at 7:30 pm pst (10:30 pm est) on Friday night. The game night broadcast kicks off 30 minutes before the opening face-off on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata and on the Royals' website at www.royalshockey.com. Live streaming video of the game is also available through the Royals' website on a pay-per-view basis provided by B2 Networks.
