Alaska Aces News Release
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have acquired forward Ryan Gale from the Toledo Storm in exchange for cash considerations and added forwards Gregg Zaporzan and Ryan Ramsay to the roster.
Gale and Ramsay were scheduled to arrive in Anchorage this afternoon while Zaporzan played in Alaska's 4-0 shutout of Victoria last night. Zaporzan should be with the club only through the weekend, having not played professionally since the 2002-03 season and currently studying in Anchorage to become a physician's assistant. Gale last suited up for Toledo December 20, finishing his 15-game stint with three assists and 19 penalty minutes. A 5-11, 180-pound rookie out of Niagara University, Gale scored 24 goals and assisted on 14 others as a senior last year while playing with Matt Craig, who currently ranks fourth in the ECHL with 19 goals as a member of the Utah Grizzlies.
The 22-year-old Ramsay has been in the St. Louis organization since turning pro after scoring at least 20 goals in four straight seasons in the Ontario Hockey League between 2000-04. He was assigned to the Aces after appearing in 26 games for Alaska's AHL affiliate in Peoria, most recently Tuesday against Milwaukee. Ramsay scored eight points on three goals and five assists for the Rivermen while accumulating 41 PIM. As a rookie last year, he totaled 18 points (6g-12a) in 46 games for Worcester, at that time the AHL affiliate for St. Louis.
Winger Cam Keith, who had an assist last night for Alaska and has 20 points (9g-11a) on the year, has been called up to Peoria and will travel with the Rivermen to play Chicago Friday at 10:30 p.m. ADT. Defenseman Zack Fitzgerald, who began the year with the Aces, is +1 in two games for Peoria, while goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu, still unbeaten as an Ace at 9-0-2, awaits his first AHL start this year.
Alaska, currently in the midst of a club-record 15-game unbeaten streak, tangles with Victoria tangle twice more, tomorrow night and Saturday, with both games scheduled at 7:15 p.m. All Alaska Aces games, home and away, are broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com. In addition, all home games and selected road contests will be available on a pay-per-view basis on the internet, courtesy of B2 Networks.
