Oliver Perez and Co headed to Johnstown

Johnstown, PA (December 28, 2005) - Pittsburgh Pirates Oliver Perez, Ryan Doumit, Paul Maholm, and Jose Castillo are coming to Johnstown.

The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that the Pittsburgh Pirates Caravan, including starting pitchers, Perez and Maholm, and young stars, Doumit (catcher) and Castillo (2B), will attend the Chiefs game on Wednesday, January 18 vs. Reading. Face-off is 7:30 p.m. The Pirates stars will be signing autographs, meeting with fans, and participating in intermission breaks. Pirate announcers Greg Brown and Steve Blass, Pirates hitting coach Jeff Manto, and the Pirate Parrot will also be in attendance.

The Chiefs will be honoring local Youth Baseball leagues and players on January 18, as well. Local baseball players will be able to meet and talk with their favorite Pirates before the game.

The Chiefs are offering a private reception with the Pirates to baseball organizations who contact them before January 14. The Chiefs are also encouraging local players to wear Pirate hats or their most recent team hat, so they may be receive prizes including free tickets, autographs, and Chiefs merchandise.

The 2005-06 season sponsored by First National Bank is in full swing.
