
Gladiators Military Appreciation This Weekend

The Gwinnett Gladiators will be honoring the Nation's Armed Forces this weekend as the team will wear special camouflage jerseys on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon as the Gladiators hold Military Appreciation Weekend at the Gwinnett Center.
Dubbed "Operation Military Thank You", in tribute to our service men and women around the world, the Gladiators will wear special limited edition jerseys for two games as they host the Charlotte on Saturday and South Carolina Sunday. Our service men and women can get special ticket packages for the games by contacting the Gladiators offices at 770-497-5100 for more details.
Following Sunday's game, the camouflage jerseys will be auctioned off in the main lobby of the Arena with the proceeds benefiting the Gladiators Foundation for Kids.
The Gladiators annual post game specialty jersey auction has raised over $44,000 during the team's first two seasons. The Gladiators special "St. Patrick's Day" Jerseys raised over $16,600 during the team's inaugural season while last season's "Tie-Dye" Jerseys brought in $28,175 for the Foundation.
In addition to the jersey auction following Sunday's game, there will be several military vehicles including two National Guard Humvees, a five-ton troop carrier, a deuce troop carrier and a Hemmit vehicle on display at the games.
On Sunday, joining the military vehicles and the military equipment displays, there will be two National Guard "Huey" helicopters and a National Guard BlackHawk helicopter on display. Fans, including kids, are invited to climb over, around, and through these pieces of military machinery.
"The Gladiators Foundation for Kids" was established by the by the Gwinnett Gladiators to help support the many Non-Profit Agencies and Organizations who work with Children in Gwinnett and Surrounding communities. The Gladiators for Kids Fund is managed by the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia, a highly respected 501-C-3 charitable organization based in Duluth, GA.
The Gladiators Military Appreciation Weekend is presented by Fox 5 - Atlanta, 104.7 The Fish, Kroger and the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
The Gwinnett Gladiators, having already clinched a playoff berth, continue the 2005-06 ECHL season on the road on Friday, March 10th as they travel to Charlotte to take on the Checkers at the 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators offer several ticket packages for different needs as well as group outings, suites and birthday parties. The Gladiators play all 36 home games at the Arena at Gwinnett Center located on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth and are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers.
