Gladiators Fall to Reign 4-2

The Ontario Reign used two early first period goals to beat the Gwinnett Gladiators 4-2 on Friday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Ontario scored two minutes and twenty-two seconds apart with Brodie Sheahan netting his first goal of the season 1:29 into the first period. Cameron Burt and Brady Calla collected the assists on the goal.

Dan DaSilva had the second goal for Ontario 3:41 into the first with Kyle Kraemer adding the assist.

Doug Jones got the Gladiators on the board midway through the second period with his first goal of the season as he jammed home a second chance right on the goal line. Cody Brookwell and Maxime Villemaire picked up the assists on the goal helping set up Jones on the marker.

Ontario regained their two goal advantage on Vincent LoVerde's third goal of the season on the power play. Parked on the off wing, LoVerde took a rink wide pass and beat Gwinnett netminder Mike Lee with a one-time shot for the goal at 16:25 of the second period. DaSilvia and Kyle Kramer collected the assists.

C.J. Stretch gave Ontario its largest lead of the night with his second goal of the season at 7:26 of the third period. Colton Yellow Horn and Kerek Couture helped set up the goal for Ontario.

Jones notched his second goal of the season for the Gladiators. Parked in the slot, Jones ripped a snap shot past Ontario goaltender Jean-Francois Berube for the goal at 13:49 of the third period. Casey Pierro-Zabotel and Kyle Lawson had the assists on the power play goal for Gwinnett.

Gwinnett couldn't convert a late power play chance in the third period as Berube collected 29 saves for the win. Lee had 21 saves in the loss for Gwinnett.

The Gladiators return to action tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. against the Greenville Road Warriors at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
