Generals Select Cole Cassels with Their First Round Pick

The Oshawa Generals announced this morning that they have selected with their first round pick, 16th overall at the 2011 OHL Priority Selection forward Cole Cassels from the Ohio Blue Jackets U16 team.

Cassels, son of former NHL player Andrew Cassels, scored 22 goals and 44 assists for 66 points in 48 games last season with the Blue Jackets. The 5-foot-11 forward also played with the TPH Thunder at the 2011 OHL Cup where he scored 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points while adding 4 penalty minutes in 4 games at the tournament.

"Cole is a very skilled offensive player," said Generals Head Coach and General Manager Chris DePiero. "We are very excited to welcome Cole to the organization."
