Majors Select Two in First Round

MISSISSAUGA, ON - The 2011 OHL Priority Selection got underway this morning and the Majors held two picks in the first round. With the 18th overall pick, the Majors chose goaltender Spencer Martin of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. With the 21st overall pick, the Majors went back to the Jr. Canadiens, selecting right winger Scott Teskey.

Martin, 15, was born on June 8, 1995 and stands 6'1" and weighs in at 185 lbs. By selecting Martin 18th overall, the Majors made him the first goaltender chosen in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection. Martin recently competed at the 2011 OHL Cup Tournament with the Jr. Canadiens. He started four games in round robin play, allowing 10 goals and he backstopped his team to a perfect 4-0 record.

Teskey, who recently celebrated his 16th birthday, is a 6'0", 180 pound right winger. He also competed at the OHL Cup, serving as an assistant captain on the Jr. Canadiens. In four round robin games he had three goals and two assists for five points to go along with four penalty minutes. He had one point in two games in the playoff round.

The Majors are pleased to welcome these two new additions to the organization. The organizations next pick will come in the fourth round.

The Rogers OHL Championship Series continues tomorrow in Owen Sound as the Majors try to rebound from a heartbreaking overtime loss yesterday. Puck drops at 4:30 PM and the game will be televised on Rogers Sportsnet. Fans can also tune in to listen to the game on The Haze FM.ca. The series shifts back to the Hershey Centre on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM for game five.
