Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S GAME: The Thunder look to make ECHL history as they visit Reading for a Monday afternoon matinee. The Thunder enter tonight's game on a four game winning streak, their second longest of the season, extended by yesterday afternoon's 1-0 win over the Elmira Jackals. The Royals, the Thunder's victim on Saturday evening, enter tonight's game holding onto the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 41 points. These two teams will meet seven more times this season.

HISTORY COULD BE MADE: The Thunder are on the verge of ECHL history today as they enter today's game 36 minutes and 22 seconds shy of the ECHL's all-time shutout streak of 236:22, set by the Hampton Roads in the 1996-97 season. The Thunder became one of just six teams in ECHL history to post three consecutive shutouts as they blanked the Elmira Jackals 1-0 last evening at First Arena. The Thunder have not conceded a goal in 199:41, dating back to the third period of the Thunder's 4-2 win over South Carolina on January 9.

FIRST AINT THE WORST: With yesterday's win, the Thunder have regained possession of first place in the East Divisoin for the first time since early December. The Thunder moved past the Manchester Monarchs atop the East Divisoin with 50 points, one ahead of the rival Monarchs. The Thunder still hold four games in hand on Manchester and the teams will square off eight more times during the 2015-16 season.

SIMMER DOWN: Kent Simpson has now recorded two consecutive shutouts as he denied all 24 Elmira shots he faced in yesterday's victory. Simpson, who previously made 31 saves in a 1-0 win over Norfolk in January 12. Simpson, who is riding a person shutout streak of 144:04, is 5-1 in six ECHL starts this season. The former Chicago Blackhawk leads all Thunder goaltender with a .934 save percentage and a 1.84 goals against average.

HENRY. JAMES HENRY: James Henry scored the lone goal in yesterday's 1-0 win over Elmira, giving him points in back-to-back away games. Henry, whose goal was his first since he returned from injury on 12/31, has now collected six points (2-4-6) in 18 games this season.

PENALTY KILL BILL: The Thunder have remained a daunting penalty kill unit as of late as they extended their perfect penalty kill streak with a 3-for-3 effort in yesterday's win over Elmira. The Thunder have killed off 27 straight penalties and have raised their percentage on the season to 83.3. The Thunder have not allowed a power-play goal since a 5-1 loss to the South Carolina on January 8.
