Allen Americans Surrender a Goal to the Cincinnati Cyclones

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans dropped their second straight game in the extra session losing to Cincinnati in overtime by a score of 4-3 on Monday afternoon at Allen Event Center in the annual MLK Kids Day Game.
For the second day in a row the Americans jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by David Makowski (7) and Chris Crane (7), only to have Cincinnati fight back to tie the score and eventually grab the lead at 3-2 midway through the second period. The Americans would tie the score on the power play late in that second frame when Chad Costello fired home his 15th of the season to even the game at 3-3. Both teams had 14 shots on goal after forty minutes of play with both teams cashing in on the power play.
Neither team was able to score in the third so for the second game in a row the game would be decided in the extra session. Cincinnati's Branden Gracel was setup by Brett Wysopal as Gracel fired one that beat Joel Rumpel to the blocker side as Cincinnati leaves the Allen Event Center with back to back wins and the season series (2-0-1-1).
"It was disappointing as we had a chance to make this a big weekend and we let points slip away," said Americans defenseman Aaron Gens. "The boys played hard today but in the end we didn't do enough to help out Joel Rumpel."
The Americans did get a big boost to the lineup today as forward Greger Hanson, was returned on loan from the San Jose Barracuda. Hanson was a minus one with two shots on goal in his return.
The Americans now hit the road for two games this weekend in Wichita before returning home to face the Thunder on Sunday afternoon in Allen at 4:05 pm. Tickets for all Americans home games are on sale NOW at www.ticketmaster.com or call (972) 912-1000.
