Milner Stops 35 Shots For South Carolina In Loss To Everblades
ESTERO, Fla. - The Florida Everblades (4-0-1-0) scored three times in the second period and got 22 saves from goaltender Anthony Peters to defeat the South Carolina Stingrays (1-3-1-0) 4-0 at Germain Arena on Saturday night.
Stingrays' goaltender Parker Milner was busy all night, making 35 saves in a losing effort for South Carolina. The Rays finished its first road trip of the season by bringing home a total of two points from Friday's 2-1 overtime win.
For the fourth consecutive Stingrays game, neither team was able to score a goal in the opening period. Florida outshot South Carolina 12-6 in the first frame.
The Everblades broke open the game in the middle stanza, scoring three goals in a five-minute span. Brendan O'Donnell found the back of the net first at 2:44 of the second, followed by Levko Koper at 6:29 and John McCarron at 7:33.
The Stingrays fought back, but couldn't put the puck past Peters, mustering 10 shots in the period.
Florida got its fourth goal of the game at 14:06 of the third when Brant Harris scored his first of the season to make it 4-0.
The Everblades outshot South Carolina 39-22 in the contest and scored one goal with the man-advantage, finishing 1-for-3 on the power play. The Stingrays failed to score on their only power play of the game which came in the first period.
There were two fights in the third period, with Stingrays forward Trevor Gillies battling Koper at 3:05 of the final frame and defenseman Marcus Perrier engaging O'Donnell at 14:44.
South Carolina is back at the North Charleston Coliseum Tuesday night to take on the Orlando Solar Bears for the second time this season at 7:05 p.m.
