WEST VALLEY CITY, UT. - The Colorado Eagles rallied from three separate one-goal deficits to pick up a point in the standings and force a sudden-death overtime, but fell in the final 90 seconds of the extra session by a final score of 4-3. Casey Pierro-Zabotel and Luke Salazar each posted a goal and an assist in the loss, as the Eagles remain alone atop the Mountain Division Standings with a record of 4-1-1.

Grizzlies forward Ralph Cuddemi put Utah on the scoreboard just 3:06 into the contest when he blasted home a rebound that rang off the goalpost to give the Grizzlies a 1-0 advantage.

The Eagles would knot the score at 1-1 with a backhander in the low slot from Pierro-Zabotel at the 13:15 mark of the first period. The goal also extended Pierro-Zabotel's point streak to six consecutive games to start the season.

With the game tied at 1-1 heading into the second period, both teams would earn opportunities on the powerplay, but neither team would be able to convert. As time ticked away in the middle frame, Grizzlies forward Eric Higby snapped a wrister past Eagles goaltender Nathan Lieuwen with 1:04 remaining in the second, giving Utah a 2-1 lead heading into the second intermission.

Colorado would tie the game at 2-2 when Salazar stuffed in a rebound on top of the crease 52 seconds into the third period. That deadlock would be broken when Utah was handed a 5-3 powerplay and forward John Puskar deflected a drive from the point put the Grizzlies back on top 3-2.

The Eagles showed their resiliency as rookie forward Cole Sanford unfurled a wrister from the right circle that beat Utah goaltender Ryan Faragher to square the game at 3-3 with 5:22 remaining and ultimately force an overtime.

Both clubs found opportunities in the extra session, but Utah forward Austen Brassard would capitalize on an Eagles turnover at the blue line and beat Lieuwen five-hole to give the Grizzlies the 4-3 win in OT.

Colorado concludes its two-game set against the Utah Grizzlies in West Valley City, Utah on Saturday at 7:05pm MT.
