WEST VALLEY CITY, UT. - The Colorado Eagles staged a rally for a second consecutive night to tie the game late and force overtime, before ultimately falling in a shootout 3-2 at Utah on Saturday. Eagles forward Jesse Mychan registered a goal and an assist, as Colorado has now walked away with at least one point in six of their first seven games.

Utah jumped on the board first when forward Shane Walsh fielded a drop-pass on the rush and fired a shot from the top of the circle past Eagles goalie Nathan Lieuwen to give the Grizzlies the 1-0 edge at the 10:41 mark of the first.

As time ticked away in the opening period, Mychan chopped a loose puck out of mid-air at the Eagles blue line and rushed down the ice, beating Grizzlies goaltender Ryan Faragher five-hole to knot the game at 1-1.

With the game still tied to start the second period, the Eagles would begin the middle frame on the powerplay. It would be the Grizzlies, however, who would capitalize when forward Kenton Helgesen launched a wrister from the blue line that fluttered over the shoulder of Lieuwen and put Utah back on top 2-1 with only 3:06 gone in the second period.

Moving into the third period of action, Colorado would consistently pressure the Utah defensive zone, but would be forced to pull Lieuwen in favor of the extra attacker with just over a minute to play. The move would pay off, as forward Luke Salazar stuffed in a loose puck on top of the crease to tie the game at 2-2 with just 27 seconds left in regulation.

The Eagles and Grizzlies would both generate a flurry of chances in sudden-death overtime, but neither would find the back of the net. Colorado would then face their first shootout of the season. The Eagles were stymied by Farragher in the shootout, while Lieuwen turned aside three straight Grizzlies before surrendering the winner to Walsh to give Utah the 3-2 win.

Colorado returns home to square-off against the Reading Royals for the first time in team history Wednesday at 7:05pm MT. Season tickets for the 2016-17 season are on-sale now and can be reserved with a $50 deposit per seat by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).
