After coming together for a home-and-home series to start the season, Orlando and Florida meet up tonight for the third of 14 contests this season. The Solar Bears are playing their final game of a three-game road trip in tonight and look to earn their first win on the road this season. The Solar Bears collected a point on Wednesday in Gwinnett that included a wild third period where each team fired 16 shots on goal. The game went tied at 1-1 going into the third period, but the Gladiators scored on the power play at 1:23 and again six seconds later to jump out to a 3-1 lead. The Solar Bears battled back in the contest with a goal from forward C.J. Severyn followed up by F Jacob Lagace's first goal of the year to force overtime and eventually a shootout. The Gladiators prevailed in the shootout to take down the Solar Bears 4-3. Florida returns home tonight for just their second home game of the year. The Everblades went a perfect 3-0-0-0 on a three game road trip on the west coast that included stops in Ontario, Bakersfield, and Las Vegas.
Solar Bears Notes:
Forwards C.J. Severyn and Zach Harrison each scored on Wednesday to push their point streaks to five games. Severyn has eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) and Harrison has five points (4 goals, 1 assist) in that span. Harrison is also on a three game goal streak... F Jacob Lagace notched his first goal as a Solar Bear on Wednesday and is four games shy of his 200th professional game... Orlando went past regulation on Wednesday for the first time all season... Forward C.J. Severyn is second in the ECHL with 27 PIM and tied for third with eight points... The Solar Bears had their highest shot output of the season on Wednesday with 35 shots, including 16 in the third period.
Everblades Notes:
F Matthew Pistilli leads the ECHL with 11 points and seven goals... F Brandon MacLean is tied for third with eight points. MacLean lead the ECHL with three game winning goals... G Jesse Deckert leads the ECHL with four wins... The Everblades are undefeated with a 6-0-0-0 record. The best start in ECHL history came from the Dayton Bombers (1994-95) and Trenton Titans (2001-02), who each went 8-0-0-0 to start the year... F Kyle Bonis leads all rookies with five goals and seven points... D Mike Cornell leads all rookies and defensemen with a +7 rating... F Matthew Pistilli lead the Everblades in goals (7) and points (11)... F Brandon MacLean and D Jordan Henry are tied for the team lead in assists with five... Florida is fifth on the power play at 20.7% (6-for-29) and 6th on the penalty kill at 92.9% (26-for-28).
