Gladiators Add a New Goaltender

DULUTH, Ga. - The Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League assigned goaltender Peter Delmas to the Gladiators on Friday.

Delmas (pronounced, DELL-mas), 23, was a second round choice of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, and has played in 92 ECHL games over the past three seasons for the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers, along with nine for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

The Bedford, Nova Scotia native had his best season so far in 2010-11 as a rookie with the Nailers. In 24 games, Delmas went 15-6-2 with a 2.03 goals against average and a .928 save percentage, and backstopped Wheeling to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the nation's premier "AA" hockey league and are affiliated with the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
