Estero, FL - The Florida Everblades have a homecoming of sorts Friday as they return to the friendly confines of Germain Arena after five straight road games for an intrastate showdown with the rival Orlando Solar Bears at 7:30pm.
Fresh off a four-game sweep of Pacific Division foes in California and Nevada, the Blades return to Southwest Florida looking to extend their league-best six-game winning streak to open the 2013-14 campaign.
Orlando has been similarly busy over the past week, having also logged four games since October 25; the Bears logged a 2-1-0-1 mark in contests against Gwinnett and South Carolina.
Florida forward Matthew Pistilli enters the game with an ECHL-best 11 points (7g, 4a) while Blades forward Brandon MacLean and Orlando forwards C.J. Severyn and Zach Harrison are all tied for the league's longest active points streak at five games.
Sitting at 6-0-0-0, the Everblades are two wins away from tying the league's all-time best record for most wins to open the season-eight, set in 1994-95 by the Dayton Bombers and tied in 2001-02 by the Trenton Titans.
Friday's in-state battle will be broadcast locally on FOX Sports Radio 1350 AM and worldwide online on America ONE, the official internet television provider for the ECHL, at www.americaonesports.com. Pregame coverage will get under way at 9:45pm.
