Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI-, The Kalamazoo Wings received another roster boost from their National Hockey League affiliate, the St. Louis Blues. The Blues have reassigned defenseman Cade Fairchild to the K-Wings.
Fairchild joins the K-Wings after starting the season with the AHL's Chicago Wolves. A former 4th round (96th overall) selection of the NHL's St. Louis Blues during the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Fairchild played in five games and earned an assist with the Blues during the 2011-12 season.
Last season, Fairchild played in the AHL with the Peoria Rivemen posting 8 points (8 assists) in 43 games. In 2011-12, besides playing for the Blues, Fairchild saw action in 68 games for the Rivermen notching 34 points (8 goals, 26 assists).
Before turning pro, Fairchild was a four-year standout at the University of Minnesota, where he led all Golden Gopher blue-liners in scoring in his sophomore and junior campaigns.
The K-Wings will start the month of November at Wings Stadium tonight Friday, November 1st with a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Toledo Walleye on Duck Dynasty Night featuring a special appearance from the hit TV show's very own Mountain Man.
